All this is possible due to the internet of things that can easily cover the places at vast distances. Mining has become safer than before due to internet of things: Internet of things is working with a goal in mining industry of providing more safe means of working and even improving the current safety practices. The machines used in the industry are usually powerful and are very large in size and weight. This industry contains some of the largest machines of the world. Thus this increases the chances of accidents if any person is working at wrong place at wrong time which leads to very harmful results (Sun, 2012). With the help of internet of things heavy equipments are incorporated with sensors working in cooperation with warning technology that can detect their location and proximity and provide warning messages at the time of emergency and can easily prevent accidents. The applications and devices used for controlling these equipments include GPS, video, radar and RF devices that help in locating things and these things can be used for both the equipments and even for employees working in the industry and thus safety of mining industry is en sured. With the advancement of technology and internet of things in mining industry, the human beings are removed from performing dangerous operations. This reduces the chances of accidents and any sort of loss of workforce. For example in Western Australia, self- driving or autonomous trucks are being used by the firm Rio Tinto since 2008. There about fifty three Komatsu autonomous trucks are working in mining industry and are navigating routes and even responds for local environmental and other conditions with the help of GPS, radar guidance systems and around two hundred sensors (Bandyopadhyay, 2011). The firm is using the Autonomous Hauling System (AHS) which has proved itself as a very high performance providing system. As per the data available the driver less trucks of Rio Tinto has hauled about 250 million tons of ore and had driven for about three million miles. These wireless trucks are working on the techniques of internet of things and are connected wirelessly and are operated a nd controlled by the operations team of Rio Tinto working in Perth which is thousands mile away from the actual site of working. As the internet of things have made the trucks driver less and this has helped in improving the safety measures for the workers by reducing the chances of fatigue and mistakes due to stress and also by deducting the number of workers needed at the actual mining sites that are highly dangerous at times (Baoyun, 2009). More predictable, optimized and continuous operations all through day and night are possible without and change of shifts and lunch breaks with the help of autonomous trucks. With the use of such trucks the need for more technical people gets reduced for working in operations control centre and thus led to a shift in skills needed in workers of the mining industry. Now even the workers working in mining industries have an added advantage of residing in town areas instead of living on the outer skirts of the cities i.e. near to the ore bodies. The Autonomous Drilling Systems (ADS) have been undergoing trial by various mining organizations. For example Rio Tinto has installed ADS in its mine site in West Angeles (Jiping, 2010). They have even put a trial for automated driverless trains with an investment of more than half a billion that will help in hauling ores from the mines to the ports. Companies like Rio Tinto is working with a vision of making mines for the future with the overall operations of the mining industry being performed by the objects based on internet of things for not only using automated trucks and hauling purposes but also for other purposes such as operations in the mining industry, continuous and minute monitoring of mining operations, plant processing purposes, monitoring of stockpiles, computerized floatation tanks used in extraction processes that can result in optimal working of the extraction process and even trains working on autonomous ideology and all these operations are controlled from a cent ralized department or unit of the organization i.e. the centralized operation centers of the companies. Conclusion: The idea behind working with an internet of things based system is that all the things will be operating under a system called as a total system. It will be system in which all the operations of the mining industry will be pre-planned and dynamic. It will work on the notions of having its own memory system and can anticipate problematic areas and even respond to them on timely basis. This system will be able to learn the things on its own and will have interlinked paths working at a speed of light. The function of this total system will be that of brain working for the whole ore body in coordination with all the other operations being controlled by the centralized operations centre. The automation of the mine systems will integrate all the physical automated elements. It will help in the creation of models that are multi- dimensional formed by the integration of varied data sources that includes sensors of the equipments and also the data related to geological functions. The system c an also be used for optimizing the layout plans of the mines, paths on which vehicles operate, operations of the mines and coordination of all the rest operations for the most efficient and effective results. Some firms are even using visualizing software known as RTVs that provide 3D visuals of the mine and other crucial data essential for the functions performed by controllers, geologists, drilling teams for planning blasts operations, planners of the mine and supervisors for taking crucial decisions for the organization. Internet of things in mining industry is making operations of the industry more safe and efficient with the automation of objects. It is creating more job opportunities with high technical skills and even allowing people to work from places of their preferences with few workers working on dangerous mining sites. Autism is a developmental disability of the brain, much like mental retardiation, and though many autistic people appear to act retarded, they are quite frequently intellegent. Two to four out of every 10,000 children are diagnosed with autism: and 75% of them are boys (autism-partI). Autism is usually dagnosed in children before the age of 5. Many autistic infants are differen from birth. Two common factors in the may exhibit are first arching their back away from their caregiver to avoid physical contact and second failing to anticipate being piked up. Apassive baby is one who is quiet making little if any noise. Or their are overly active babies which constantly are crying for their caregiver. During infancy many began to rock and/or bang their head against the crib, but not always (Edelson 1). There is grat deal of variety amoung autistic people. Some autistic people may never learn to talk and many will be able to work independently. Other may do well in special supportive enviroments (Bitte 3). Autism is a defect that changes the way a person's brain processes information (Waldman 1). This is why some children fall behind in their same-adged peers in areas such as communication, social skills, and congnition. Many children become overly insistent on the same routine everyday: if one is changed even slightly, the child may become upset and tantrum. Some common examples are drinking and/or eating the food at every meal, wearing certain cloths, or using the same route to get to school. Most autistic people find something that is silly to other quite important to them (Eldson 4). most autistic individuals seem to have impairment in one or more of their senses. This impairment can invovle auditory, visual, tactile, taste, vestibule, olfactory(smell), and proprioceptive senses. Approximately 40% of autisic people experience discomfort when exposed to certain sounds (Waldman 5).

William Rehnquist, Conservative Stalwart on the Supreme Court William Rehnquist was one of the most influential U.S. Supreme Court justices in modern history, a conservative stalwart who dissented with the majority jurists in the Roe v. Wade opinion legalizing abortion and who built a coalition on the bench who sought to limit the power of the federal government. Rehnquist, an appointee of Republican President Richard M. Nixon who was named chief justice by President Ronald Reagan, served 33 years on the high court before dying at age 80 in September 2005. Rehnquist was a Goldwater Republican whose passions were federalism - limiting congressional power and strengthening state powers - and expression of religion. He argued that just because an action is religiously motivated, does not make it consequence-free for society, and should not make it consequence-free, under societys laws. Rehnquist also voted consistently in support of the death penalty and in opposition to gay rights. He often wrote solo dissents in his early years on the bench. Rehnquist may best be remembered for the 5-4 decision in the 2000 presidential election that stopped the Florida recount and propelled George W. Bush into the White House. He was only the second chief justice to preside over presidential impeachment hearings. Heres a look at Rehnquists biggest opinions on the Supreme Court. Roe v. Wade The courts majority held in 1974 that a woman, with her doctor, could choose abortion in earlier months of pregnancy without legal restriction, based primarily on the right to privacy. Rehnquist wroteà the dissent, in which he noted: I have difficulty in concluding, as the Court does, that the right of privacy is involved in this case. National League of Cities v. Usery Rehnquist wrote the majority opinion in 1976, which invalided federal minimum wage requirements for local and state government employees. This case highlighted the 10th Amendment, which reserves for the states powers not explicitly enumerated elsewhere in the Constitution; this Amendment is the foundation for the states rights movement. Wallace v. Jaffree This 1985 court decision invalided an Alabama law providing a moment for silent prayer in public schools. Rehnquist dissented, contending that the belief that the founders intended to erect a wall of separation between church and state was misguided. Texas v Johnson This 1989 case found flag-burning to be a protected form of political speech under the First Amendment. Rehnquist wrote one of two dissents in this 5-4 decision, saying that the flag is the visible symbol embodying our Nation ... not simply another idea or point of view competing in the marketplace of ideas. United States v. Lopezà Rehnquist wrote the majority opinion in this 1995 case, which declared unconstitutional the Gun Free School Zones Act of 1990. The act gave schools a 1,000-foot gun-free perimeter. Rehnquists ruling states that Congress can regulate only commerce - its channels and instruments as well as substantive actions. Kelo v New London In this controversial 2005 decision, the court expanded the power of the Fifth Amendment, saying that local governments may take property for private use because, in this case, there was a plan that promised jobs and revenue. Sandra Day OConnor wrote for the minority, which included Rehnquist: Under the banner of economic development, all private property is now vulnerable to being taken and transferred to another private owner, so long as it might be upgraded - i.e., given to an owner who will use it in a way that the legislature deems more beneficial to the public - in the process.

Analyzing the Narrative Essay It was the winter of 2006, in the month of January, and my junior year of high school. By this time in high school Iââ¬â¢d had some quirky teachers and to be honest Mr. DeBruyn didnââ¬â¢t seem so uniquely special but apparently he had his moments. English class began on a day when it seemed like school should have been cancelled due to the blizzardous weather earlier that morning. Mr. DeBruyn had an auspicious look on his face then says, ââ¬Å"Weââ¬â¢re doing an in class writing assignment today but itââ¬â¢s not going to be in classâ⬠. The whole class paused and waited for his next sentence. He told everyone to go to our lockers and get prepared to go outside. Everyone protested and all he could say is ââ¬Å"you have three minutes, dress warmâ⬠, as if we wouldnââ¬â¢t! Back in the classroom we grabbed our notebooks as best we could with our gloves, scarves, hats, and puffy winter coats to hold us back. The assignment was to write about nature, as usual, but this time from a first hand experience. We were to pick a certain aspect of what we say outside and discuss how the snow and winter weather affected it, whether it be a plant, bush, tree, or whatever. Once outside everyone was shivering and freezing trying to slap down notes as fast as possible. Mr. DeBruyn then pulled out a digital camera and took a picture of the spot each student examined. Back inside everyone rushed to finish an essay of their choppy notes. Iââ¬â¢d hoped it wasnââ¬â¢t worth much of our grade. A few months went by and he hadnââ¬â¢t mentioned anything about the assignment, nor gave it back to us. It was April now. He returned the assignment and no one scored higher than a ââ¬ËBââ¬â¢, which was expected. He then gave us each a copy of the area we studied, from the pictures he had taken, and sent us back outside to re-examine the same spot. We were told to re-write the assignment and now descriptively compare the two images and had the weather conditions made the images vary. Mr. DeBruyn turned out not to be so bad, in fact he was kind of cool. I liked that he had challenged us in unique ways, and apparently so did everyone else. Turns out, his creative teaching style touched the hearts of a lot of students, not just me. As proof, he was voted as the teacher to speak at our graduation. And that is no small honor. The privilege of addressing the graduating class at their commencement exercises is a direct testament to to how much the teachers is loved and appreciated by the class. The teacher chosen, therefore, is the one who has the most positive impact on the entire class. And I most certainly agree that Mr. DeBruyn has been an inspiration, and I will never look at winter the same way again. The story of Mr. DeBruyn is a compelling piece of narrative, very simple in its use of words, but highly poignant and raw with emotions. The use of simple words and straightforward imagery makes the material accessible to everyone. However, while simple and highly accessible, the piece is equally provocative, engaging the reader in philosophical musings, while reading the piece and afterwards. Teachers and students alike will find lessons in the simple story of Mr. DeBruyn and the lessons about life that he imparts to his students. The most striking theme in the essay is the concept of education being practice by the teacher, Mr. DeBruyn. John Dewey, the great educational philosopher, once said that there is no better context for learning than the context of real life. Sadly, most classes offer pure theories without any exposure on how such theories find practical form in the real life. In particular, Deweyââ¬â¢s ideas on using real-life tasks and challenges find great significance in my class with Mr. DeBruyn. à The opportunities he provided the class to experience real life is truly one lesson that everyone in that class will never forget. Teaching is perhaps one of the most meaningful of all professions because every day you are given the chance to make meaningful and lasting contribution to an individualââ¬â¢s life. In fact the No Child Left Behind Act recognizes the singular power of teachers in the learning process; so much so that the bar has been raised for teachers in the hopes of improving the educational system. I believe that a big part of the decline in education is that most teachers have lost pride in their vocation. Teachers must have a sense of dignity of work. Unfortunately, when the work is hard and the money is tight, that is easily forgotten. As such, there is an urgent need for reforms, and the community should take an active role in making teachers feel more valued through active support and acknowledgement. By the single act of capturing winter and seeing the image compared with another season, the class became more aware of their surroundings and became more appreciative of the world around them. In one singular stroke of genius, Mr. DeBruyn was able to rekindle our sense of wonder and discovery, things which are at the very heart of learning, and is essential for every student and teacher to have, regardless of whatever subject is being taught or learned. Of course, of utmost importance is what I have learned from this class. If there is one thing that I will carry from my experience with Mr. DeBruyn, it is that you have to let your students take the lead. As a teacher you have to be very sensitive to the signals that your students are sending you individually and collectively as a class. Learners will always give you signs whether you are doing the right thing or not. You have to be ready for contingencies and be prepared to make on the spot adjustments. Let them tell you how they want to learn, because they know what they need from their teacher. I have learned to look at things from all possible levels and adopt my thinking from those perspectives. If I become a teacher, I should never impose myself on them; instead let them teach me how they want to be taught. This is an important realization that I will always keep in mind should I decide to enter the teaching vocation. Indeed while it is true that students need to feel that someone is in control and responsible for their environment and sets classroom limits but maintains them (Wong, 2001), it is more important for teachers to let the minds of the students soar in wonder and discovery. Of course it deserves to be mentioned that the things I have learned from Mr. DeBruyn goes beyond the classroom; more than teaching a lesson, Mr. DeBruyn taught us about life. Much has been said about the nobility of the teaching profession, and indeed, the high sense of duty and the self-sacrifices required from a teacher on a daily basis is nothing less than heroic. I see this first hand in the story of DeBruynââ¬â¢s class. From this very simple essay I have realized that educational reforms do not necessarily need to cost anything. Indeed, Mr. DeBruyn has shown that it does not take too much time or money to effect a change inside the classroom. As what Mr. DeBruyn has shown, all that is needed is the passion for teaching and genuine desire to share in the learning experience. It is not difficult, and all that is needed to go back to the basics. In the educational process, all teachers must be reminded that the learning process starts with what the child knows. Prior learning is the framework where new concepts are built upon. As such, every teacher should begin with the previous lesson and connect it to the new material. Let the child see the relationship and build their own concepts. This way the child earns ownership of what he has learned because it was a result of what he already knows. These are the things I have been able to reflect upon, and it has had a profound effect in me as an individual looking her place in the sun. From firsthand experience, I have witnessed the power of the teacher to make meaningful and lasting contribution to the lives of students. Indeed the teacher is the single biggest factor that determines the success or failure of the students to learn what they should. I have realized that it is the teacher who creates the atmosphere that focuses the class on their tasks and keeps them engaged in the lessons. Indeed, every moment is an opportunity to learn, and the teacher must create that opportunity for the students. (Mujis, 2005, 75) Reading Mr. DeBruyn I have realized that Mr. Paul Trout of The Chronicle Review would be very pleased by his story. Mr. Trout, in her article entitled Shame on You, takes a critical look at education and forwards the idea that the more the classrooms are threats to the students morale and well-being. While Mr. Troutââ¬â¢s arguments may be valid, Mr. DeBruyn flies in the face of Mr. Troutââ¬â¢s thesis. There can be redemption and life-changing inspiration within the four halls of the classroom. The negative view of the teachers and the school, while not unfounded, is not always true. Across the country, teachers are making a difference in the lives of students, one kind word and encouragement at a time. According to Paul Freireââ¬â¢s Pedagogy of the Oppressed (1993), à ââ¬Å"A careful analysis of the teacher-student relationship at any level, inside or outside the school, reveals its fundamentally narrative character. This relationship involves a narrating Subject (the teacher) and patient listening objects (the students).â⬠This description of Friere depicts a one-way relationship between students and teachers, and as such, the transfer of knowledge occurs when the teacher narrates or uses words to teach. But words, while extremely powerful and effective at initiating change is not the only tool at a teacherââ¬â¢s disposal. Actual experiences go beyond any words to properly describe. Mr. DeBruyn proved this by immersing his class in authentic experiences, which did not need much explaining. It was an exchange of knowledge that took place in the heart. I think that the philosophy that comes closest to Mr. DeBruynââ¬â¢s teaching style is the one espoused by Ms. Rachel Toor. In her article, Itââ¬â¢s Mr. Orwell to You, she promoted a teacher-student relationship that was informal. Not informal in the sense that the students treat teachers without any respect. Rather, students approach the learning system with intimacy. They view a piece of literature as someone written by a real person, and as such, is someone they can very well relate to. By ââ¬Å"humanizingâ⬠lessons, the students become less intimidated, are able to relax their mind and be open to more learning. Indeed, education is a complex issue that is fraught with difficulties. But no other profession is more fulfilling. To the individual who has the calling to teach. Pursue it with a heart open to all kinds of possibilities. It will not be easy, not by a long shot. But remember that a meaningful life is always fraught with sacrifices. But at the end of the day, the fulfillment is something that you cannot get anywhere else. This means that the fixed cost incurred through paying wages is a loss for the hotel. The reduced meal cost for the employees also reduces the profit margin. As such, an opportunity cost presents itself in the form of making the cost of wages variable. This means using the size of the reservation to determine the number of customers who will available and create a roster that will see a rotation of extra employees staying at home on days with low volumes of business. à The source of conflict between the management and the employees of Riverside Hotel is the costs the employees incur as a result of their taking dinner at the hotel on the late shift (Jiambalvo Case study 1). The hotelââ¬â¢s labor agreements allow the employees to have free meals during their shifts, provided the meal did not exceed $12. This means that any cost in addition to the $12 would be deducted from their wages. The conflict arose when those taking the late shift found that they had been deducted $10 from their wages for every meal. This meant that the meal cost $22 (Jiambalvo Case study 1). To the employees, the management is just ripping them off because they know the price of the supplies and according to them it should not cost them such a figure for one meal. For example, a prime rib dinner includes supplies of a $7 piece of meat and a $1 salad. This adds up to $8 hence the basis for the employee arguments that the meal should not cost even $12. à However, the argument of the employees is both right and wrong. It is right because charging them $22 for a meal that they have helped to put together from $8 supplies does not augur well with any business management practice.
